Chicken Kiev.

~parsley, chives, one stick of softened butter, garlic, lemon, salt, and pepper

~mix in a bowl and form into a 1/4" block, then refrigerate for a couple of hours (or stick it in the freezer for half, lol)

~two chicken breasts mashed thin with a mallet or rolling pin

~flattened chicken, block of butter, cup of flour, breadcrumbs, an egg, salt, and pepper
-slice the butter into "fingers", wrap inside a chicken breast
-whisk the egg with a teaspoon of water
-mix breadcrumbs with salt and pepper to taste
-cover each roll with flour, dip into the egg mixture, and cover with breadcrumbs

~just before cooking. hold the chicken in place with toothpicks if necessary. refrigerate for about an hour (or longer, if you want)
-fry in about half a cup of vegetable oil, and enjoy.

It's a really decadent dish, and somewhat time consuming to make, but tasty. If you're so inclined, I think it would be good to substitute the parsely with something like rosemary or any other herb you might like. Also, if you have trouble cooking the chicken thoroughly before burning the outside, lower the heat and cover the pan.

Fenton's Creamery
Last night my boyfriend and I decided to make a visit to Fenton's Creamery in Oakland, CA and let me tell you... it was AMAZING. I don't know if I've ever eaten any food more pornographic.

We ordered the large size "make your own sundae" (there is an even larger size as well!) with mint cookie, cookies and cream and chocolate chip ice cream, smothered in hot fudge and whipped cream and topped with a cherry. They have some even more impressive sundaes, but my boyfriend is a picky eater, so we picked the kind he wanted--I am the opposite of a picky eater, so while I'd prefer more kinds of toppings and more exotic flavors of ice cream, I am also perfectly happy to eat the ones he picks.

It was pretty much amazing. The picture doesn't really do it justice (from camera phone, taken right before we ate it), but try to use the sugar thing to give some scale. Or put it as the waiter described it, as big as two of his fists (that waiter had really large fists haha).

about to die
I have a head slpitting head ache and i can barely think, and my vision is all kinda full of black spots, so i downed a bunch of water, trying to make it go away, and i think it's a little better but i can't be sure. Lost another pound since my weight in this morning.

Beer-braised beef, smoked gouda creamed spinach, artichoke, and beer!
Today, I decided to do a braised short rib recipe, based (loosely) on Daniel Boulud's recipe. I found some short ribs for cheap, and I figured, why not?

Look, the finished plate ended up looking like a smiley! )

fondant playing cards.
Apparently, I have a very ambitious mother. We were assigned the duty of making our neighbors 40th birthday cake. Mind you, we're very much amateurs. She wants to make a casino table cake. The accents, she wants to make out of fondant, and I've been given the task of figuring out how to make "realistic" fondant playing cards. I know how to make fondant, but I've only used the little fondant cutters to make shapes. Honestly, I think we're in way of our heads, but I don't want to tell my mom that. Help? =D

God dammit. Now I'm definitely going to have to buy a PS3. Or just a standalone blu-ray player, but the PS3 is cheaper.

the boy has been moved from open to 5:30, at work
because he is homeschooled

now, i wouldnt study my ass off and try to do online schooling JUST for him, but he is a motivation. i wont want to be in my school come second semester, and i could graduate earlier
plus it would be easier to go to work, and not have to worry abotu getting caught driving past hours.

i started 10th grade today. it was a flurry but i knew my way around. literally, over 2,000-4,000 kids go to my school. with everyone trying to find some route with the back stairwells and hallways, it was mayhem. utter and complete mayhem. i walk realy fast and since im small i like to squeeze past groups of people, so my friends were flipping out when they couldnt see me in the crowd of people. :p

fast tomorrow.

im lucky that if i ever crave something yummy at coldstone (work) i always choose sinless sans fat
compared to everything else, its like a dream without the worry
but to me there is always going to be that worry. i jump and walk around so fast though im not too worried about it

So/So Day Today :(
Well, today was an ok day. I did well until about 8pm. I had 2 granola bars (100 cals/each). And a coffee with skim and one cookie. I guess that's ok but I did well today. Tomorrow should be better... I hope.

Fasting buddies please feel free to lean on each other for support!

Hi. :)
I'm a fairly new member, but I have a small problem and was hoping for some suggestions. Thursday, my boyfriend invited his friend's mom over for dinner (his friend's on tour in Iraq, and she's basically like a second mother to him), but she's Jewish and follows the dietary codes strictly, hence the original Thursday night dinner of chicken fettuccine Alfredo is out... We were thinking of perhaps replacing it with a different chicken dish or perhaps salmon... Anyone out there know of kosher dishes/recipes for either? Some suggestions for accompanying sides would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance. :)

Recipe Request

I am in desperate need of all of your best white chocolate recipes!!!  My guy friend is kind of obsessed with white chocolate, but I don't generally bake with it so much, so I'm lacking in recipes.  The catch is, though, he doesn't like fruit or nuts or anything that could be remotely healthy.  He is a fan of coconut, though.  It doesn't matter if it's cookies or cake or anything...just bring on the white chocolate recipes!
